This Autumn, Sarushima Island will be transformed from a leisure island to become “Sense Island-The Art Island of Darkness.” Sarushima Island, an uninhabited island located in Tokyo Bay is most commonly known for swimming and barbequing day trips, with ships running to the island between March - November.

Sarushima is know for the remains of a Meiji period battery and has been designated as a National Heritage Site. Many people visit to view the untouched nature, as well, as the fortress created from the islands bright coloured rocks.

Seiichi Saito will produce “Sarushima at Night“ which is usually prohibited to enter. Artists also involved include Wild Dogs, Yasuhiro Suzuki and Fumiko Sano.
